Kevin is currently affiliated with ExxonMobil located in Houston, Texas.
Research interests while at UT Austin: Thermally rearranged (TR) polymers, consisting of complex poly(benzoxazole) structures, including crosslinked networks prepared by thermal rearrangement of aromatic poly(hydroxyimide) precursors. Selectivity and permeability in these TR polymers are a function of the precursor structures, so a series of precursors were selected to allow tuning of membrane properties via substituting different dianhydride monomers. Additionally, linear non-TR homopolyimide systems based on bulky diamines was investigated due to their high permselectivity. The transport properties of the polymer membranes was examined in order to characterize the dependence of transport properties as a function of temperature, with special focus with respect to increasing the selectivity of the polymer membranes.
